What are the responsibilities and job description for the Journey Toolmaker - Swing Shift position at Plastech Corporation?
The Journeyman Toolmaker's primary responsibility is to build, repair, and revise in-house fixtures and jigs as required by Engineering, Assembly, and Molding. You will also perform preventative maintenance activities and repairs on current in-house production tools and fixtures. You must also complete all paperwork and computer/data entry into IQMS on work performed.
Schedule & Compensation:
Plastech Corporation pays on a weekly basis. This position is on a 4&2 rotating swing shift schedule. This means you work two days on 1st Shift (7:00am to 3:30pm), two days on 2nd Shift (3:00pm to 11:30pm), and then have two days off.
The pay for the position is $26.00-$30.00 per hour DOQ.
***External candidates receive a $500 BONUS after 90 days of employment (must meet performance and attendance requirements).
Essential Functions:
- Build, repair, and revise in-house fixtures and jigs as required by Engineering, Assembly, and Molding.
- Perform preventative maintenance activities and repairs on current in-house production tools and fixtures.
- Perform insert changes on in-house tooling.
- Collaborate with Engineering on production tool design concepts and modifications for engineering changes on current in-house tooling.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and computer entries into IQMS on work performed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):
Knowledge, Education, Experience and/or Certifications:
- 2-year technical school certificate/diploma in tool making or machine tool technology.
- Minimum 5 years experience in plastic injection tooling revisions and repair.
- Master Cam experience beneficial but not required.
- Print reading.
- Strong knowledge of tooling required.
Skills & Abilities:
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
- Must be able to read, write and comprehend English job instructions.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Read instruments such as gauges and indicators on equipment (training may be provided).
