Position Summary:
The Supervisor is critical to the successful growth of Plant Based Innovations. This position requires a dynamic individual capable of meeting production demands, creatively looking for ways to improve the process, and maintaining a safe, clean, and positive work environment. This is a hands-on position that will lead by doing.
The Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of yogurt manufacturing including safe operating practices and sanitary procedures. The supervisor will supervise a crew to assist in product batching, cooking, and formulation of products, as well as packaging (bottling and cup lines) and Sanitation of equipment. The supervisor will ensure that quantities of batched products are produced in the production facility to meet the sales orders placed on a weekly basis. This will entail scheduling the crew, pre-production set-up, post-production cleaning, storage of produced products, and packaging of products for distributor pickup. Will also include solid reporting and record keeping to management on a daily and weekly basis.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility is to ensure production of the highest quality products for our solid customer base in a timely manner. This will require understanding of sanitary food processing, milk / yogurt handling, packaging, handling, storing and Sanitation.
- Manage and motivate production crew and interact with Operations manager to anticipate demands for current as well as newly introduced or seasonal yogurt products.
- Prepare production room for food production; ensure production room and all process equipment is clean and sanitized before production.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized production and packaging room.
- Guarantee adequate record keeping of production processes and lot traceability of ingredients used in production.
- Ability to promote a positive and team-based atmosphere.
- Ensure food storage units are maintained at proper temperatures.
- Ensure that all products are correctly packed and palletized ready for distribution.
Skill Requirements:
- Ensure all mechanical and processing equipment is properly maintained, and a solid knowledge of pumps, motors, valves.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to manage production and fulfillment crews, work cooperatively with other staff.
- Attention to detail and accuracy when preparing ingredients.
- Good judgment and discretion.
- Ability to represent PBI in a courteous and professional manner.
- Be available to work a minimum of 40 hours a week with flexibility to work early mornings, and late evenings as required.
- Ability to adequately track inventory levels to meet production demands.
- Good math and analytical skills to accurately measure ingredients and produce finished products.
- Safe food handling and storage knowledge is required. SQF knowledge preferred.
- Demonstrated Computer software knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office products including MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook.
Work Conditions:
- The work environment is primarily in a production room setting that has high temperatures, loud noises, and wet conditions.
- This job will require standing for long periods.
- Must lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of food, production, manufacturing, or a relevant field is desired.
- Minimum of 3 Years supervisory experience required, with preference for food production, food handling, sanitation, and supervision.
- Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Yogurt or Dairy Production and packaging experience is a plus.
