Dishwasher/Steward

Duties and Responsibilities:

Plantation Bay Golf & Country Club offers a positive working environment and opportunity to grow within the kitchen environment.
We have an entry level opportunity in our kitchen for a reliable and hardworking individual. The Dishwasher will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils and cookware. This includes washing, drying, sorting and storing dishes correctly. The Dishwasher will also be responsible for cleaning the kitchen including counters, floors, walls and other areas as assigned. The Dishwasher will also need to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications:

Successful applicants should have prior dishwashing experience, a basic understanding of food safety and sanitation, and the ability to lift heavy objects. Excellent time management and organization skills are also desirable.

Training and Education:

No prior educational background is required for this position. On-the-job training is provided to ensure the Dishwasher is comfortable with all duties and responsibilities.

Common dishwasher responsibilities

• Cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, and cookware.
• Operating dishwashing machines and other kitchen equipment.
• Stocking and restocking dishwashing supplies.
• Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
• Following safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Assisting with food preparation and other kitchen duties as needed.
• Disposing of trash and recycling.
• Monitoring dishwashing machines for proper operation.
• Troubleshooting and repairing dishwashing machines as needed.
• Assisting with inventory and ordering of dishwashing supplies.

What a typical day looks like for a dishwasher

A dishwasher's primary daily task is to ensure that dishes, glasses, cutlery, and other kitchen items are cleaned properly. On a typical day, a dishwasher will first unload any previously washed items and organize them appropriately. Then they will load the soiled items into the washer and start the cycle. After the cycle is finished, they will unload the dishes and carefully inspect them to ensure they are clean. Finally, they may hand-dry the dishes, put them away, empty the sink, and scrub out the washer to prepare it for the next cycle.

Compatible jobs and work history

Working as a dishwasher requires an individual to have an eye for detail, be well organized, and have the ability to move quickly. Though specific dishwashing experience may be preferred, there are many jobs in other industries that can provide skills applicable to becoming an effective dishwasher. This can include roles in hospitality, such as a busboy or food service worker, as well as roles in maintenance, such as custodial work or janitorial services

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
