We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Perennial Bed Maintenance Technician to join our vibrant landscaping team. Duties
- Plant, prune, and care for perennial flowers and shrubs to promote healthy growth and seasonal blooms
- Remove weeds, deadhead flowers, and perform soil conditioning to maintain bed aesthetics and plant vitality
- Use hand tools, power tools, and landscaping equipment such as trowels, pruners, hedge trimmers, and lawn mowers to perform routine maintenance
- Install new perennial beds or refresh existing ones with appropriate plants, mulch, and decorative elements
- Monitor plant health regularly, identify pests or diseases early, and implement integrated pest management strategies
- Assist with irrigation system checks, repairs, and adjustments to ensure proper watering of beds
- Support snow plowing or winterization efforts as needed during off-season periods
Requirements
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, or horticulture with a focus on perennial beds
- Strong mechanical knowledge of landscaping equipment and hand tools
- Familiarity with lawn care practices including mowing, edging, and fertilization
- Knowledge of landscape construction techniques such as hardscape installation and soil preparation
- Ability to operate power tools safely and efficiently; experience with excavators is a plus
- Understanding of tree care practices including trimming and pruning techniques
- Excellent attention to detail with a proactive approach to plant health and landscape aesthetics
- Physical ability to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions; capable of lifting heavy materials when necessary
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
