About us
PLANT SLAYER is a fast causal restaurant which serves 100% vegan comfort food. Our business started as a private pop-up in 2018 serving burgers and chicken sandwiches. After growing in popularity we decided to take the plunge into a food truck in 2020. Ultimately we outgrew our food truck and in 2022 transitioned into a brick and mortar fast casual restaurant.
We're looking for sociable, hardworking individuals to join our small, but fun team.
Fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Must be able to multi-task under pressure — juggling multiple orders, duties, and priorities at once, often with little downtime
- Must stay sharp and alert through busy rushes and demanding shifts, adapting quickly as situations change

PLEASE READ:
- Applicants MUST have previous kitchen sandwich/burger prep experience in a restaurant environment (catering experience is not applicable)
- (2) prior employer references (requirement)
- Must be able to take direction and follow instructions while contributing to a positive working environment and great customer service. Our restaurant has a specific style and approach to cooking/preparing, thus applicants must be direct-able and open to feedback.

- This is a fast paced environment with specific duties and roles; must work well under pressure
- Applicants must have a current Food Handler's card or acquire one upon starting
- All positions are part-time.
- Must have open availability including weekends (Monday-Friday 10:30AM-2:30PM & Friday/Saturday 10:30AM-6:30PM)
Applicants should expect to be trained to perform multiple roles and responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Reports to work as indicated on the work schedule and in the correct uniform.
- Practices positive personal hygiene and cleanliness habits during all work shifts.
- Assembles burgers/sandwiches according to training in a timely and efficient manner, following specific recipes and directions
- Value quality
- Fast paced environment, working with a team
- Complete all closing duties in a timely manner.
- Follow all national, state, and local safety, health, and sanitation guidelines as specified by the restaurant.
- Correctly operate machinery including food processors, grills, ovens, deep fryers, etc.
- Assist with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers and all storage areas, adhering to proper food storage procedures.
- Additional duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 years of age or over
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Restaurant customer service experience (required)
- Direct food prep experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team oriented environment
- Handle stress associated with responding to/solving problems
- Have the ability to maintain positive and friendly demeanor in high- volume, fast- paced environment.
- Understanding of restaurant KDS system
- Strong work ethic, team focus, and commitment to going above and beyond to ensure excellent guest service.
- Help keep service area stocked and clean throughout shift.
- Ensure compliance with all policies and laws, including health and safety standards.
- Maintain a drug free environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand, walk, talk, and hear for extended periods of time, at least 5 hours, and traverse all parts of the restaurant quickly
- Ability to read, speak, write, and understand communication in English
- Must be able to lift, handle and carry (e.g. trays, small wares and equipment) at a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must have a good sense of balance, be able to bend, kneel, stoop, reach and squat on a frequent basis
- Must be able to communicate effectively and listen attentively
- Must be able to continuously use fingers (e.g. to bilaterally operate the telephone and use point-of-sale equipment)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed in a restaurant, kitchen and dining room setting
- Position involves work on afternoons, nights, and weekends, as required
- Must be able to work in an environment subject to loud noises from restaurant equipment and machinery, fumes, odors, dust and smoke
- Temperature extremes range from working near 100 degree Fahrenheit to working in a walk-in freezer of -10 degree Fahrenheit
