Job Summary
We are seeking a Lead Instrumentation Technician to join our team! You will be working closely with Engineering to install, maintain, and troubleshoot site instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment to provide safe operation with maximum production availability. As a Lead Technician, you will direct the start-up of instrumentation and electrical equipment for chemical processes in the plant and maintain all design, purchase, and calibration documentation.

Responsibilities 
  • Oversee disassembly, cleanup, repair, assembly, and installation of instruments of all types.
  • Perform routine calibrations, preventative maintenance, and performance checks on instruments. 
  • Maintain detailed records of instrument performance, maintenance schedules, and troubleshooting actions. 
  • Recommend changes to existing instruments, controls, electrical systems, or equipment to improve reliability, accuracy, or further optimize processes.
  • Suggest tools, equipment, or methods to improve the safety and timeliness of system repairs. 
  • Recommend improvements in calibration procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain an organized work area.
  • Train and mentor instrumentation technicians
Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Instrumentation and analytical equipment terminology.
  • Possess related work experience reading loop sheets, electrical interconnect drawings, ladder logic drawings, equipment, and process instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and knowledge of prevailing electrical codes. 
  • Basic knowledge of PLC’s, computers, and control system components.
  • Solid working knowledge of chemical control systems.
  • Strong technical expertise in instrument troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating electrical equipment & instruments. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills. 
  • Ability to follow technical manuals/instructions.
  • Self-motivated problem solver who can work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Experience with Aveva E&I and/or Smartplant Intools (SPI) a plus but not required.
  • Bachelor or associated degree in Instrumentation Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field. 
  • Minimum 6 years' previous Instrument Technician experience in a Chemical Plant setting. 
  • 8 years of experience in a Chemical Plant setting servicing instruments can substituted for a degree.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work with chemicals using proper safety precautions.
  • Ability to work with tools using proper safety precautions. 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. 

Salary : $40 - $55
