General Definition of Work
The student placement specialist, under general supervision, performs complex work with limited decision-making discretion implementing student placement processes including the choice lottery, reassignment requests, and guardianship issues. Position advises on school district policies related to student placement and records. Employee performs district-level work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the Director of Student Placement and Records.

Place of Work
The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions
- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
- Process orders for student records
- Conduct address verification for enrolled students
- Implement enrollment and registration processes for independent students, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to relevant policies
- Evaluate documentation for residency appeals and make informed decisions
- Respond to subpoenas and legal requests related to student records, ensuring compliance with legal requirements
- Process and manage revocations related to enrollment or registration
- Process incoming hardship caregiver applications by vetting documentation; communicate as needed
- Conduct enrollment and registration audits to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to district and state record policies
- Respond to parental concerns related to choice lottery, student assignment and guardianship matters
- Assist walk-in individuals with enrollment, registration, and related inquiries
- Create and organize related records that are accurate and compliant
- Develop communication, presentations, and reports as requested
- Analyze data and recommend process improvements
- Coordinate and participate in community events related to student placement and registration
- Complete local, state, or federal surveys and reports accurately and promptly
- Facilitate or attend professional development and meetings as required
- Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations
- Perform related work as assigned or required
