In support of Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York (PPCWNY)’s mission, the Health Education and Outreach Supervisor (HEOS) oversees the development, marketing, and implementation of educational and outreach programs at the In Control site for youth ages 11 – 19 years. The HEOS is responsible for supervising site staff, including the Youth Site Coordinator, ensuring the delivery of high-quality health education and outreach services. The HEOS establishes and maintains relationships with community organizations and resources to support the program’s goals.

Essential Functions
Program Supervision
- Works to ensure all programs meet goals and objectives in a manner compliant with funding sources.
- Maintains In Control site operations in accordance with PPCWNY policies and procedures.
- Monitors and reports on program outcomes and impacts.
- Identifies barriers and ensures access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare and family planning services and other essential support services for teens.
- Supervises the Youth Site Coordinator and oversees youth education contractors/special programs instructors, and groups of peer educators
- Ensures staff are provided with and follow an annual work plan
- Conducts regular performance evaluations and provides feedback
- Identifies and responds to coaching, mentoring and training needs of staff
- Establishes and maintains relationships with community organizations and other collaborative entities to broaden the impact of In Control
- Coordinates and conducts outreach activities to promote the program and engage key communities and youth
- Oversees and provides health and youth development education sessions
- Delivers evidence-based programs with fidelity to youth in a variety of settings
- Ensures educational materials are up to date and relevant
- Collaborates with other team members to plan, co-facilitate, and implement a diverse range of programming
- Provides assistance and/or referrals for youth to obtain comprehensive family planning services, health services, or other essential support services as identified.
- Maintains records for programming activities, including contact information, parent/guardian permissions, relevant health records, etc.
- Submits reports as required
- Attends and participates in regular agency meetings, training, and in-services
- Meets deadlines for requested written reports and required data entry
- Helps to maintain a Just Culture and welcoming environment for youth at In Control
- Performs other duties as assigned
Applicants must possess the following qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):
Education—
- Bachelor’s degree in health education or a health-related field
- A minimum of 3 years of experience with the provision of comprehensive sexuality education to an adolescent population
- Experience working with youth and demonstrated ability to be non-stigmatizing of youth in their role
- Ability to facilitate discussions/teach classes to youth on reproductive health topics such as reproductive anatomy, contraceptive methods, STDs, and HIV/AIDS.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat).
- Knowledge of reproductive health, anatomy and physiology, and family planning
- Knowledge of or experience with community and priority population to be served Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to plan and implement programs from the ground up
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with various groups and stakeholders
- Bilingual skills, depending on the community and youth being served
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends
- Must have reliable transportation and/or a valid driver’s license not in jeopardy of being revoked
