In support of PPCWNY’s mission, the Education & Outreach Advocate has responsibility for providing outreach and awareness to members of the communities, schools, and partner agencies. The Education & Outreach Advocate provides sexual assault education and programming in Monroe County. The home office for this position is in Batavia, but travel is required throughout the entire RESTORE region including Monroe, Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming Counties.

The Education & Outreach Advocate provides sexual assault education and programming in Monroe County. Essential Functions
- Designs and delivers education and outreach programs to community members and K-12 school districts, increasing awareness of sexual assault
- Provides education and outreach to community members and partner agencies via tabling and community events; interacts effectively with community members and partner agencies around sensitive topics
- Develops strategic relationships with educational institutions, community stakeholders, community agencies, correctional facilities, and faith-based organizations
- Promotes training opportunities and distributes prevention materials to the community and community stakeholders
- Attends community meetings, as well as internal meetings with education staff and all team members
- Identifies desired program outcomes, develops outcome measurement tools and collect data for program analysis, reporting and grant purposes
- Support social media pages and provide newsletter content
- Participates and help facilitates volunteer advocate trainings
- Must sign up for On Call shifts at a minimum of two shifts per month including one weeknight and one weekend 24-hour shift on a rotating basis with all staff, including holidays, providing coverage to all Counties RESTORE serves including: Monroe, Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming
- Stays current on prevention education strategies by attending educational conferences and training seminars relevant to job responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department
- Participates in affiliate initiatives and represents PPCWNY in a professional manner within appropriate forums, coalitions, etc., and uses those opportunities to increase participation in PPCWNY programs and to further agency goals
- Shows respect for all internal and external customers for differences in backgrounds, lifestyles, viewpoints and needs
Applicants must possess the following qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):
Education
- Associate degree required, bachelor’s degree preferred in Human Services, Social Work,
- Health Education, Criminal Justice, or related field
- Two years paid work in human services or education and/or one-year paid crisis counseling, sexual assault, or domestic violence work required
- Must successfully complete the sexual assault advocacy program training during the first two months of onboarding
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid NYS driver’s license not in jeopardy of being
- revoked; ability to respond to emergency calls within thirty minutes
- Demonstrated knowledge of sexual violence, domestic violence, and stalking dynamics and effects, public awareness, and crisis intervention services
- Professional written and verbal communication skills; strong public speaking presentation skills
- General PC skills needed (MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Self-motivated with the ability to set goals and create timelines for implementation; excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate records
