Planned Parenthood Northern California (PPNorCal) is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator for our Concord Administrative office. This role is full-time, 40 hours per week. Summary
Essential Job Duties:
- Directly responsible for the leadership of the PPNorCal Volunteer program encompassing 150 volunteers that are essential to PPNorCal’s success.
- Manage and develop PPNorCal’s current and future volunteer programs including program development and ongoing improvements in the best interest of PPNorCal patients and staff.
- Lead all volunteer recruiting efforts, including application review, interviewing, and vetting volunteer candidates for PPNorCal’s various volunteer programs.
- Collaborate with the Human Resources Department to ensure PPFA required background checks are completed.
- Onboard new volunteers following the PPFA required training guidelines.
- Lead annual volunteer training efforts ensuring that volunteers are compliant with all PPFA mandated annual training. Develop training materials and information sessions and update as needed and organize volunteer training dates and locations.
- Support all department volunteer programs through proper placement of volunteers and ensuring that departmental goals are met.
- Create, implement, and oversee annual volunteer events (i.e., Capitol Day). Coordinate the logistics for all volunteer events.
- Create and manage a volunteer recognition program to recognize and engage our volunteers. Create volunteer awards levels and plan volunteer “thank you” events.
- Facilitate excellent communications with and between volunteers while developing, building, and maintaining positive, long-term relationships.
- Maintain a robust volunteer database ensuring complete and accurate volunteer information.
- Write articles regarding volunteer programs for the organization’s InSites newsletter.
- Prepare content for social media posts regarding Volunteer programs for the Online Advocacy Specialist.
- Assist in other Government Relations activities as assigned.
- Actively support and participate in PPNorCal’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts.

- Two to three years of experience with volunteer and/or event coordination or community organizing.
- Must be a self-starter with a collaborative attitude and must be able to work independently or as a team member.
- Must possess solid written, verbal, record keeping, and organizational skills.
- Must possess the ability to work efficiently and effectively in a very fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational and time management skills are required.
- Must be personable and able to develop a positive rapport with individuals while maintaining a strong sense of professionalism. Must possess compassion and empathy skills.
- Must possess the ability to speak confidently in public or virtually to small and large groups of community members in a variety of settings such as Zoom, Facebook live, or in person gatherings.
- Must be able to build collaborative working practices with multiple community stakeholders.
- Must possess solid computer skills and ability to work with different computer applications including Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, VAN, PDI, and DocuSign.
- Commitment to quality healthcare and PPNorCal’s mission, with knowledge of reproductive health issues and policies strongly preferred.
- Willing to work on some weekends and late evenings as needed.
- Bilingual English/Spanish/other is a plus.
