About our Director of Philanthropy position

The Director of Philanthropy for Planned Parenthood Great Northwest, Hawai’i, Alaska, Indiana and Kentucky (PPGNHAIK) leads strategy development and execution of all activities in support of the expansion and retention of managed donors across our six-state affiliate. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), the Director of Philanthropy manages a high-performing, multi-state gift officer team to meet PPGNHAIK’s annual and campaign revenue targets, as well as fundraising objectives for our C4 affiliate Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates (PPAA).
What will you be doing!
Strategic Leadership
  • Developing and leading a comprehensive major gifts strategy, managing a regional Philanthropy team across six states. Establishes multi-year plans to grow major donor support and deepen engagement with the organization’s mission.
  • Bringing experience working within a federated affiliate structure, understanding how to navigate shared priorities, maintain alignment across entities, and build strong cross-organizational relationships to drive fundraising success.
  • In partnership with the CDO, develops and executes fundraising campaigns, including goal setting, managing timelines, coordinating stakeholders, and tracking progress toward managed donor revenue milestones.
  • Working in partnership with CDO, gift officers and department leaders to activate campaign communications, case development, donor recognition plans, and campaign engagement to ensure a compelling and cohesive experience.
  • Overseeing and directing planned giving programs.
  • Promoting an organizational culture rooted in equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Donor Engagement & Portfolio Management
  • Managing a personal portfolio of key donors and prospects, including those involved in campaign giving, with a focus on cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Designing and implementing a robust donor stewardship and recognition program, including the continued development of principal and planned giving strategies.
  • Partnering with the Annual Giving team to build a strong managed donor pipeline, leveraging data and donor research to inform campaign and individual donor strategies.
  • Supporting the CEOs, CDO, and senior leaders in donor engagement and solicitation, including preparation for meetings and key touchpoints.
  • Engaging and supports board members and volunteer fundraising committees, providing tools, strategy, and coaching to strengthen their fundraising roles.
Team & Operational Oversight
  • Managing day-to-day operations of the Philanthropy team, including setting performance metrics and aligning team goals with organizational and campaign objectives.
  • Overseeing major donor solicitation for affiliated 501(c)(4), ensuring appropriate donor segmentation, messaging, and legal compliance. Coordinates with legal and compliance teams to uphold all relevant regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborating with the CDO to develop and manage annual budgets and revenue targets; adjusts strategy as needed based on performance.
  • Working across departments to identify funding opportunities and develop compelling donor proposals aligned with campaign and organizational priorities.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate reporting of fundraising progress, donor activity, and campaign outcomes; effectively utilizes the donor database and CRM systems to track performance, inform strategy, and support data-driven decision-making.
Supervisory Responsibilities:Supervising at least three direct reports:
  • Philanthropy Manager
  • Senior Philanthropy Officer, Planned & Principal Gifts
  • Senior Philanthropy Officer, Campaign & Principal Gifts
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS in nonprofit management or related field preferred.

Experience:
A minimum of 10 years of direct fundraising experience, including major donor cultivation, and successful solicitation of seven figure gifts.
At least 5 years of management and supervisory experience required.
Working knowledge of the federated affiliate structure, how to navigate shared priorities, maintain alignment, and build cross-organizational relationships to drive fundraising success a plus.
Proficiency working with CRM database systems, Raiser’s Edge experience a plus.
Occasional weekends and evenings, travel commensurate with expectations of fundraising activities.

Salary Range:
$88,460 - $193,274
