Electro‑Mechanical Field Technician, Industrial Systems

Role at a glance

  • Blend hands-on service with customer-facing communication to keep LPI equipment running and customers supported.
  • Own the cycle: inquiry → diagnosis → quote → scheduling → on-site service → reporting → follow-up.
  • Travel nationally up to 60%, operating effectively from the field and hotels.

Core responsibilities

  • Primary point of contact for parts, service, and inspection requests (phone/email).
  • Diagnose issues; produce accurate parts and service quotes within ERP/CRM.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems; coordinate with Engineering for PLC/control challenges.
  • Use a multi-meter confidently for on-site electrical diagnostics.
  • Plan logistics: flights, rental cars, hotels; manage expense reporting.
  • Perform service, installations, and warranty repairs on LPI equipment.
  • Submit quotes, orders, and field service reports promptly after each job.
  • Maintain responsiveness while traveling—email, quoting, and reporting from remote locations.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Sales to ensure parts availability and readiness.
  • Relay product and customer feedback to Sales and Engineering to drive improvements.
  • Nurture customer relationships; schedule annual inspections and identify service opportunities.
  • Follow company procedures and safety/quality standards; perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude; eager to learn new technologies.
  • Strong communicator who builds trust with customers.
  • Blueprint/schematic literacy; collaborates well with engineers.
  • Electrical troubleshooting expertise, including PLCs/controls and multimeter usage.
  • Comfortable with hand tools and specialized service equipment.
  • Skilled at managing multiple projects and long-range schedules.
  • National travel readiness, occasionally on short notice; valid driver’s license.

Education & experience

  • Technical diploma in Electro-Mechanical, Industrial Mechanics, or related area preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required, plus a minimum of 3 months of relevant experience/training.
  • Strong preference for experience with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Equivalent education/experience combinations considered.

Physical demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Lift/move up to 40 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity for inspection/repair tasks.
  • Periodic extended sitting or standing for office activities.

Work environment

  • Field exposure to moving machinery, high noise, temperature variation, fumes/airborne particles, and electrical hazards.
  • Office work in a standard environment using computer and phone.
