Clinical Veterinarian | Sacramento, CA (Relocation Assistance Available)
We are seeking a Clinical Veterinarian to support a growing preclinical research facility focused on early-stage discovery. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the health, welfare, and ethical treatment of laboratory animals while supporting scientific research and study execution.
You will work closely with study teams and leadership to provide veterinary care, contribute to study design, and help enhance animal care programs—particularly within reproductive toxicology and high-risk animal care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide veterinary medical, surgical, and diagnostic care to laboratory animals
- Support complex case management and clinical decision-making
- Assist in designing and implementing preventive medicine programs
- Ensure compliance with federal animal welfare regulations
- Contribute to SOP development, review, and implementation
- Train and supervise staff on procedures and humane animal use
- Participate in IACUC-related activities and protocol review
- Support colony health programs and animal model development
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
- Participate in on-call rotation (including weekends/holidays)
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
- 1 year experience in laboratory animal medicine
- Active veterinary license in at least one U.S. state
- Ability to obtain California veterinary license within 1 year
- Strong understanding of animal welfare regulations
- Basic computer proficiency
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with non-human primates (NHP)
- Experience in FDA-regulated or GLP environments
- Experience in preclinical or research settings
Salary : $140,000 - $180,000
