Scientist – Biologics Purification Development (Contract)

Location: Worcester, MA (100% onsite)

Duration: 12-month contract

Pay Rate: Target $46–47/hr (flexible)

Overview

We are seeking a Scientist to support a Biologics Purification Development team within a Product Development Science & Technology organization. This role is hands-on and laboratory-based, focusing on protein purification and protein chemistry to support biopharmaceutical process development.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute high-throughput, scale-down robotic purification to support early- and late-stage process development, viral clearance, process characterization, and continuous process improvement studies
• Develop economical and robust downstream purification processes using chromatography, filtration, and other separation techniques
• Perform laboratory-scale process characterization studies and support process transfer to manufacturing
• Conduct bioanalytical assays including HPLC, ELISA, and SDS-PAGE
• Perform data acquisition, analysis, and documentation using electronic lab notebooks
• Communicate experimental procedures and results clearly through written and verbal collaboration
• Provide technical support for pilot-scale and/or GMP manufacturing activities as needed

Required Qualifications

• Strong biological and scientific understanding
• Hands-on experience with chromatography and filtration for biologics purification
• Experience with bioanalytical assays and analytical methods
• Education & Experience:
• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or Chemistry with 0–2 years of experience
• OR MS in a related field with 4–6 years of experience

Nice to Have

• Internship or prior industry laboratory experience
• Additional hands-on laboratory skills in biologics development
• Experience supporting process development or manufacturing transfer

Work Details

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 hours/day
