Pediatric RN ECMO Specialist Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Nursing Contract)
• Location: Omaha, NE 68114 (Nebraska healthcare jobs)
• Unit: ECMO Services (Pump Specialist)
• Shift: Day shifts, 3x12-hour (07:00 - 19:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/29/2025 – End: 12/29/2025)
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Float: May float to NICU, PICU, CVPICU as needed
• Weekend Coverage: Every 3rd weekend required
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2360 - $2420
  
  

Pediatric RN ECMO Specialist Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Nebraska or compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of recent pediatric RN experience; ECMO experience strongly preferred
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications required
• Cardiohelp system experience required
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Proven ability to manage VA and VV ECMO patients
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
  
  

Pediatric RN ECMO Specialist Responsibilities

• Serve as ECMO pump specialist for pediatric patients with cardiac and non-cardiac indications
• Operate and manage Cardiohelp system; participate in ECMO practice drills and ongoing education
• Deliver bedside nursing care in ICU settings (NICU, PICU, CVPICU) when not assigned ECMO patients
• Float between pediatric critical care units based on patient and unit needs
• Administer blood products, manage ventilated patients, and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal and central line care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and pharmacy
