Neuro RN Job Details

• Location: Milwaukee, WI 53215 (Wisconsin nursing jobs)
• Facility: Level III Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Unit: Neuro/Med Surg (24 beds)
• Position Type: Locum Tenens Travel RN
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 9/8/2025, End: 12/6/2025)
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
• Orientation: 1 shift of unit training plus onboarding
• Parking: Free parking with 24/7 security and winter shuttle services
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2040 - $2100
  
  

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license in Wisconsin or compact state (Registered Nurse)
• 1 year of recent neuro or med-surg RN experience
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Clinical skills: MS skills, wound care, wound vacs, neuro checks, trach management, incision care, drain/tube management, BiPap, HFNC, post-surgical recovery (especially spinal)
• Preferred: chest tubes, lumbar drains, IV skills, cardiac rhythm interpretation
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Ability to float to MSU, Tele, COVID, MS Overflow, and ED Holding units
  
  

Nursing Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality neuro and spine patient care, including craniectomies, strokes, TIAs, seizures, and post-surgical recovery
• Manage general medical overflow patients (wounds, chest pain, COVID, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, GI bleed, cellulitis)
• Perform neuro checks, wound care, trach management, and drain/tube management
• Document pain levels before and after medication administration, ensuring compliance with medication orders
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams: hospitalists, respiratory therapists, unit secretaries, and centralized telemetry monitoring
• Float to other nursing units as needed and adapt to changing patient ratios (night shift: 1 RN to 6–8 patients)
• Participate in a culture of teamwork, support, and continuous learning
