Travel Nurse Job Details
- Location: Decatur, Illinois 62526 (Central Illinois healthcare jobs)
- Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level II Trauma Center
- Unit: Medical Surgical (Med/Surg RN)
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nurse contract
- Start Date: November 17, 2025
- End Date: February 16, 2026
- Shift: Night Shift (4x12 or 3x12-hour shifts/week, 18:00 - 06:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2000 - $2050
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Charting System: Cerner EHR
- Scrub Colors: Blue, black, or gray
- Parking: Free with permit
- Active Illinois RN license (or in application process)
- Minimum 18 months of recent Medical Surgical RN experience
- BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross only)
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic health record (EHR) system
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response teams
- GI care (colostomy, feeding tube management)
- GU/renal care (pre/post hemodialysis, renal failure management)
- IV therapy and phlebotomy (central line draws, PICC line management, IV starts)
- Medication administration (Heparin, Insulin, PCA pumps)
- Respiratory care (CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management)
- Wound care and wound vac experience
- Knowledge of infection control and isolation precautions
- Willingness to float to other units within scope as needed
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy Med/Surg unit (average daily census: 35)
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; respond to emergencies and participate in Rapid Response Teams
- Perform GI, GU, and renal care, including pre/post hemodialysis management
- Administer medications and manage IV therapies, including blood product administration
- Deliver respiratory care, including tracheostomy and non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC)
- Perform wound care, including wound vac management and infection control procedures
- Document patient care accurately using Cerner EHR
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, social services)
- Float to other hospital units within scope as needed to support patient care operations
- Maintain compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards
