Position Summary
As an Installation & Move Technician, you will work as part of a professional team responsible for commercial moving, office furniture installation, workplace reconfigurations, and onsite customer support. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering excellent service while safely handling furniture, equipment, and customer assets.
Essential Responsibilities
Safely move, transport, pack, and unpack furniture and equipment
Disassemble and reassemble office furniture, cubicle systems, workstations, and systems furniture (Steelcase experience preferred)
Review work orders and understand project requirements before leaving for job sites
Follow floor plans, layouts, and installation instructions
Assist with route planning and communicate arrival times as needed
Serve as a spotter during vehicle backing and loading operations
Load, secure, pad-wrap, and protect cargo during transport
Assist with truck inspections, equipment inventories, and job closeout procedures
Inspect furniture and equipment for damage and promptly report any concerns
Maintain clean, organized work areas, vehicles, tools, and equipment
Accurately complete required paperwork and documentation
Report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, and cargo damage immediately
Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers
Deliver exceptional customer service during all onsite interactions
Attend required training and maintain regular, reliable attendance
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Clean criminal background (MANDATORY)
100% drug-free workplace; pre-employment and post-employment drug screening required
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Professional attitude, appearance, and demeanor
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office experience preferred
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Experience
Furniture moving experience
Systems furniture installation experience (Steelcase preferred)
Commercial moving, warehouse, manufacturing, assembly, production, or general labor experience
Driver's License preferred
For-Hire, Chauffeur, or CDL driving experience preferred
Customer service experience preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs repeatedly, independently or as a team lift
Frequent climbing, kneeling, crouching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and walking
Ability to stand and work for extended periods
Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment
Occasional evening or weekend work based on project requirements
