We are seeking a motivated Staff Engineer (E.I. or P.E.) to join our Component design team in Boise, Idaho.
This is an ideal role for an early-career engineer eager to develop their skills in structural engineering by working alongside experienced professionals. You will contribute to the structural design and analysis of building components and equipment that interface with larger building systems, gaining practical experience across the full project lifecycle from initial concept through construction support.
As a small firm, this role offers direct access to experienced engineers and leadership, with consistent mentorship and feedback. It is best suited for individuals who want to build a strong technical foundation, gain real-world experience, and take on increasing responsibility as their experience grows.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- E.I. or P.E. registration.
- Familiarity with structural design software (RISA Suite, Enercalc, Bluebeam).
- Enthusiasm for learning and a strong interest in structural engineering.
- 0-4 years of experience in the design of component, equipment support, retrofit, solar, or refrigeration-related projects preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the United States. This is an in-person role based in Boise, Idaho.
Key Responsibilities
- Structural Analysis Support - Assist senior engineers in conducting structural analyses and evaluations for component and equipment-related projects, including walk-in coolers and freezers, solar panel additions, rooftop unit (RTU) replacements, and custom supports for piping and mechanical equipment.
- Documentation - Contribute to the preparation of technical documentation, reports, and drawings for component and specialty support systems.
- Project Participation - Participate in project meetings, site visits, and inspections focused on retrofit and equipment installation projects to gain hands-on experience.
- Learning & Understanding - Develop an understanding of structural codes, existing building evaluation, and material behavior through mentorship, with an emphasis on site-specific, code-compliant component design.
- Professional Development - Continuously expand your knowledge through on-the-job training and professional development, with a focus on component engineering, retrofit conditions, and coordination with specialty manufacturers, contractors, and installers.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary starting at $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience, along with a $3K sign-on bonus for direct applicants and comprehensive benefits, including healthcare, dental, vision, and life insurance.
