Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Special Education Paraprofessional to join our vibrant educational team. In this vital role, you will provide essential classroom support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and other special education requirements. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help foster an inclusive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. You will collaborate closely with teachers, specialists, and families to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support students’ growth through tailored instructional strategies.
Duties
- Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards such as literacy education, math, and early childhood development.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities, including those requiring physical assistance or behavioral management strategies.
- Support students with autism spectrum disorders and other behavioral challenges by applying behavior management techniques and behavior support plans.
- Support classroom activities for a diverse group of ages and needs.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and handle sensitive data responsibly.
- Collaborate regularly with teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive student support.
- Provide physical assistance for students requiring mobility or daily living support during classroom activities.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in educational settings such as preschool, early childhood programs, or private schools is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with disabilities, including developmental disabilities and behavioral disorders.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating effectively with staff, parents, and students’ families.
- Classroom management experience that fosters a safe, inclusive learning environment for diverse learners.
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while maintaining professionalism at all times.
