USD 270 Plainville Schools is seeking a dedicated, student-centered educator to serve as our Junior High Social Studies Teacher. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop a strong understanding of history, geography, civics, economics, and current events while fostering critical thinking, responsible citizenship, and a lifelong interest in learning.

Qualifications
- Valid Kansas Teaching License with an endorsement in Social Studies, History and Government (6-12), or History Comprehensive (5-8), or eligibility to obtain appropriate Kansas licensure.
- Bachelor’s degree and completion of a state-approved educator preparation program.
- Ability to pass Kansas/background checks and district employment screening.
Terms of Employment
- Contract length determined annually by the Board of Education
- Salary and benefits determined annually by the Board of Education
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Support the district’s vision, mission, and values
- Implement all policies and statutes established by KSDE, governmental agencies, and the local Board of Education
- Teach district-adopted standards using research-based instructional strategies
- Create and maintain a positive, safe, and orderly learning environment
- Address individual student needs and provide differentiated instruction
- Plan and implement effective lessons using time, materials, and resources efficiently
- Monitor student progress through assessments and use data to guide instruction
- Initiate student intervention processes when additional academic support is needed
- Communicate openly and effectively with students, parents, staff, administration, and community members
- Collaborate positively and productively with colleagues
- Respond to change with flexibility and professionalism
- Procure instructional supplies and equipment following district procedures
- Stay current with educational trends and research through professional development
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or administrative staff

- Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking
- Repetitive motions
- Stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, and turning
- Occasional work in noisy, crowded, or high-activity environments
Alternative Licensure Opportunity
Not fully licensed yet? Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in science may qualify for a stipend through a Fort Hays State University (FHSU) grant to earn licensure while teaching.
