What You Will Do
You will be working with one of our partners. You will be responsible for tracking, managing, and assisting on all cases that are assigned to the partner you are working with. There will be two to five other attorneys that work on the matters as well.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Track all cases and their respective upcoming hearings, related deadlines and more.
- Ensure proper document management for all files and maintain files according to firm’s organization system.
- Maintain attorneys' calendars, deadlines, and reminders.
- Draft letters, email correspondence, and legal pleadings.
- Prepare and file pleadings with State and Federal courts.
- Prepare and serve discovery (State and Federal).
- Schedule court appearances and depositions.
- Process and handle incoming and outgoing subpoenas.
- Obtain and organize medical records and medical billing as well as other relevant client documents.
- Correspond professionally with opposing counsel and court clerks.
- Prepare attorney-client contracts.
- Communicate with clients via phone and email to exchange case information.
- Anticipate next steps and proactively prepare required documents.
- Handle some administrative and phone duties.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a dedicated legal assistant or paralegal who understands what goes into a litigation matter and has the clients’ best interests at heart. We are looking for a critical thinker with initiative and ambition.
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in Plaintiff litigation at a law firm.
- Working knowledge of the litigation process.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe Pro.
- Strong attention to detail.
- The ability to multi-task while maintaining accurate and up to date tasks list.
- The ability to follow instructions and take directions.
Preferred:
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Independent problem-solving skills and resourcefulness.
- Professional and polished phone and written communication skills.
- Certified Paralegal certification.
