Sales Agronomist

Plains Grain & Agronomy Cooperative (PGAg) is seeking a self-motivated, organized, professional applicant to build strong customer relationships while providing agronomic expertise and selling crop inputs and related services. This role focuses on helping growers maximize crop production and profitability through customized recommendations and exceptional customer service.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain relationships with farmers and agricultural producers.
• Identify customer needs and recommend agronomic solutions.
• Sell seed, fertilizer, crop protection products, and precision agriculture services.
• Conduct field scouting and evaluating crop conditions.
• Provide recommendations based on soil tests, crop performance, and local growing conditions.
• Meet or exceed sales goals and business objectives.
• Prepare sales plans, quotes, and product recommendations.
• Stay current on new products, technologies, and industry trends.
• Collaborate with internal agronomists, applicators, operations staff, and suppliers to ensure excellent customer service.
• Participate in customer meetings, field days, and community events.
• Combination of office, field, and customer-site work.
• Seasonal workload may require extended hours during planting and harvest.

Basic Qualifications:

• A degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Crop Science, or equivalent years of service in the field.
• Experience in agricultural sales or agronomy.
• Strong knowledge of crop production, fertilizer, seed, and crop protection products.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and sales skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a sales relationship.
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel throughout the assigned territory.
• Ability to lift 50lbs.
