Plains is seeking a Hydraulics Engineer to join our team in Houston, Texas. In this role, you’ll build and maintain hydraulic simulation models for Plains’ pipeline assets and collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, and Commercial teams to deliver high‑quality analysis and recommendations that support safe, reliable operations.

Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and maintain hydraulic simulation models using Synergi Pipeline Simulator
- Validate and ensure proper storage and configuration of pipeline models
- Run and analyze simulation models to provide recommendations
- Analyze transient scenarios and develop safe operating limits for pipeline systems
- Write and update surge studies based on transient analysis results
- Partner with Operations to determine safe and effective solutions for over‑pressure concerns
- Provide hydraulics recommendations to Engineering and Commercial teams in support of business opportunities
- Troubleshoot operational issues on pipeline systems and support technical services in developing solutions
- Identify and evaluate energy‑saving opportunities and optimization strategies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 1–3 years’ engineering experience
- Experience with Synergi Pipeline Simulator, pipeline engineering, operations support, or pumps/valves/surge mitigation systems preferred
- Flexible and able to adapt to shifting priorities while managing multiple projects with short turnaround times
- Strong cross‑functional collaboration skills with the ability to balance competing priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to guide and support implementation of systems across a broad organization
- Ability to travel up to 10% to field locations and Operations Control in Midland, Texas
- Cleared criminal history (background) check and satisfactory reference checks
- Compliance with the company’s Drug & Alcohol Policy, including pre‑employment testing
- Valid state driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the company and its insurers
- Authorized to work in the U.S. for the duration of employment; this position is not eligible for employment‑based visa sponsorship
