What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher Aides position at Plainedge Public Schools?
As a Teacher Aide you will provide for the well-being and supervision of child(ren) in the classroom throughout the day as directed by the classroom teacher. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide one-on-one support for students in a school environment.
- Assist teachers inside their classrooms K-12.
- Supervise child(ren) at all times and assist them in daily activities while promoting independence.
- Assist in maintaining order and cleanliness of the classroom, equipment and supplies.
- Demonstrate a consistent, nurturing manner toward all children.
- Perform classroom duties as assigned by the teacher(s) or teaching assistant.
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience working with young children preferred.
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate adequate oral and written communication skills.
- Be accepting and sensitive when interacting with people with disabilities.
