Elementary School-Based Instructional Coach Job Description
Role: Work closely with the K-5 Director, school administrators, and curriculum & instructional specialists to improve student achievement, and build teacher capacity. Must be able to conduct one-on-one instructional coaching cycles, professional development, and collaboratively plan for standard-based instruction. Coaches must understand the district curriculum goals, be able to analyze student data, and help teachers identify instructional needs.
Salary: 10 month Teacher Salary as designated by NCDPI teaching schedule.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
- Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience
- Current North Carolina Teaching License
- Demonstrated knowledge of North Carolina content standards
- Experience in researched-based instructional practices
- Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to design and deliver quality professional development for teachers
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of early literacy practices
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated strength in organization, communication skills, and meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team
- Demonstrated interest and engagement in professional learning and reflection
- Demonstrated ability to utilize soft-skills in all interactions
General Responsibilities:
- Provide individual teachers with job-embedded professional development using components of the coaching cycle
- Coordinate with school administration to provide professional development for staff aligned with district strategic priorities
- Standards-based instruction

- Differentiated instruction and inclusion practices
- Provide support in analyzing student assessment data
- Provide support for Nurturing
- Assist teachers with designing instructional lessons based on multiple data sources
- Provide teachers with classroom management strategies when applicable
- Assist teachers in developing instructional resources aligned with district expectations
- Provide assistance in researching instructional solutions
- Encourage ongoing professional growth for all teachers
- Effectively manage a coaching calendar and log
- Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals
- Assist with development of district curriculum, instruction, and assessments
- Build trusting relationships with educators, and administrators
- Maintain a confidentiality
- Participate in ongoing professional development for coaches
- Perform duties as assigned by the Principal and the PreK-5 Director aligned with district strategic priorities and instructional coaching to increase educator capacity
