The Senior Mechanical Engineer functions as the main internal mechanical engineering resource on all facilities, production equipment, and safety related projects. Advancing the mechanical technical capabilities of the organization related to the capability to manufacture plastic parts and components including facility, automation, and core manufacturing. Responsibilities include managing, conceiving, designing, and implementing mechanical engineering projects so that machines and processes operate with maximum efficiency and reliability to deliver optimum value in meeting customer requirements. Additional responsibilities include advancing our automation capabilities of the organization related to the manufacture of plastic parts.
Essential Accountabilities
- Provide technical expertise and leadership in resolving manufacturing process and machine problems throughout the company. Assist maintenance in effectively achieving manufacturing objectives for uptime and reliability.
- Establish design and construction specification standards for all automation components and maintain adherence to standards with internal and external vendors.
- Create and maintain drawings for all new and rebuilt machinery using a Computer Aided Design (CAD) system.
- Document and maintain Machine manuals for use by team members.
- Provide technical assistance to manufacturing, tooling, maintenance, logistics, and other areas of engineering related to developing new projects or analyzing potential process improvement projects.
- Provide technical training to maintenance and manufacturing related to the technical aspects of new and existing equipment and processes.
- Specify, design and facilitate installation of the automation component of capital, facility and machine improvement projects.
- Direct the work of team members involved in the installation of capital equipment and machine improvement projects.
- Provide leadership and assist in the training of our Mechanical Engineers.
- Manage capital projects and execute to a plan as predicted.
- Remain technically current in the mechanical engineering field as it relates to the company's hardware components and equipment.
- Maintain a safe, injury free and healthy work environment by following and enforcing safety and related procedures, rules and regulations with employees and contractors/vendors.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or related field from an accredited institution with 10 years of progressively complex and responsible experience as a project engineer including experience leading automation projects.

- Electro-mechanical knowledge with robotics, automation equipment and systems.
- Knowledge related to effective production layout space and interface of facility layouts.
- Knowledge of OSHA/ANSI/ISO safety regulations.
