Placerville Animal Surgery Center is seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at our low cost, high volume; surgery center. This role involves diagnosing, treating/ performing surgical procedures, and ensuring the well-being of our patients. The veterinary surgeon will work closely with veterinary technicians and support staff to deliver compassionate care to pets and their owners.
Responsibilities
-Conduct thorough examinations of animals to diagnose health issues prior to surgery.-Perform surgical procedures including spaying, neutering, mass removal, and other necessary surgeries within the bounds of the veterinary surgeon. Dental technicians perform all dental procedures competently with supervision from the veterinarian.-Technicians administer anesthesia and monitor patients during all surgical procedures.-Develop treatment plans and provide post-operative care instructions to pet owners, done by doctors and support staff.-Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.-Collaborate with veterinary technicians to ensure proper animal handling and restraint during examinations and treatments.-Educate pet owners on preventive care, nutrition, and general pet health.-Stay updated on advancements in veterinary medicine and surgical techniques.
Skills
-Proficient in animal handling techniques to ensure the safety of both the animals and staff.
-Strong knowledge of veterinary practices, including animal physiology and anatomy.
-Familiarity with aseptic techniques to maintain sterile environments during surgeries.
-Ability to communicate effectively using veterinary terminology with both staff and pet owners.
-Experience in pet care practices, including dog and cat handling in general animal care.
-Compassionate approach towards animals with a strong commitment to their welfare.
-Excellent problem-solving skills to address complex medical cases efficiently.
**This office currently is seeking relief work on Thursdays and Fridays with potential for a permanent position.
**Pay is based on surgical procedures done in a work day; typically between 15-25 surgeries per day. Technician pay is taken off the top per surgery and the veterinarian surgeon takes 1/2 the gross for the day after technician pay.
**This office relies heavily on support staff under the veterinarian. From CSR, kennel assistant, veterinary assistants and veterinary technicians- all play a vital role in the success of Placerville Animal Surgery Center. With open communication and a healthy work environment to better aid our patients.
