JOB DESCRIPTION: Marketing Coordinator
SALARY RANGE: Full-Time, Hourly $23.00-$25.00 DOE
Scheduled hours may vary and will include some nights and weekends
POSITION OVERVIEW: Placer Valley Tourism is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Marketing Coordinator to support marketing, advertising, and communications initiatives that promote Placer Valley as a premier destination. This role works on both digital and print projects, social media marketing, website updates, and event promotions while collaborating closely with a small, dedicated team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - The role includes but is not limited to the tasks listed below, which may be modified at any time depending upon the needs of the business:
- Design and produce marketing materials, including ads, flyers, and digital graphics.
- Update website content and maintain CMS/CRM systems, including event listings, contacts, and marketing assets.
- Create, schedule, and monitor social media campaigns across multiple channels, including content optimization.
- Support email marketing efforts and assist in compiling monthly newsletters.
- Prepare PowerPoint presentations and marketing reports with charts and data visuals.
- Coordinate with event organizers, partners, and hotels to gather details for promotional use.
- Support content creation, including writing, photography, editorial, and community engagement initiatives as needed.
- Provide administrative and project support for marketing and tourism initiatives.
- Ensure all content across digital and print platforms aligns with brand standards and messaging.
- Proactively research trends, local events, and relevant information to support marketing strategy in a fast-changing environment.
- Track local community events and organization-hosted tournaments to maintain an up-to-date events calendar.
- Coordinates marketing and public relations efforts with event organizers.
- Knowledge of social media trends, platform-specific best practices, and paid social campaigns.
- Performs all other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Marketing experience, including social media content creation and scheduling, analytics, paid campaigns, and proficiency with management tools such as Hootsuite.
- Experience updating website content and managing CMS and CRM systems.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign required) and Canva, with print/digital ad design experience and strong visual/analytical skills.
- Strong organizational skills and reliable work ethic, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Knowledge of search engine marketing (SEO), Google Ads, and Google Analytics.
- Possesses initiative, works proactively and needs little supervision.
- Ability and desire to contribute and serve within a small dynamic office environment.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three years related experience in social media, design, and website preferred, combined with sports tourism, destination marketing, or hospitality industry knowledge helpful.

Placer Valley Tourism is a private non-profit Tourism Improvement District, whose mission is to increase the health of the hotel industry through occupancy and average daily rate within PVT's geographic footprint of Roseville, Rocklin, and Lincoln, California. We recruit, support, and develop a wide variety of events, primarily athletic, but also educational, arts, and religious. We provide grants to events and facilities depending upon how many room nights they generate and when they occur.
