What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Director position at PL Community Solutions?
About PL Community Solutions

We operate in alignment with DBHDS licensing standards and Virginia Medicaid requirements, and we are committed to building high-quality, fidelity-driven programs at every level of care. As we expand our clinical footprint, we are seeking a senior licensed clinician to provide leadership across two of our most impactful service lines.

About the Role
This is a dual-role leadership position designed for a licensed clinician who is ready to lead with clinical authority and shape program culture. You will serve simultaneously as the MST Supervisor for our Multisystemic Therapy team and as the Clinical Director for our Intensive Outpatient Program, with your time and energy divided equally between both programs. In addition, you will provide ongoing clinical supervision to program staff, supporting their professional growth, clinical decision-making, and adherence to evidence-based practices.
This is not a caseload-carrying position. Your focus is clinical leadership: developing and guiding therapists, providing supervision, maintaining fidelity and compliance standards, ensuring documentation quality, and serving as the clinical authority across both service lines. Our administrative team manages scheduling, prior authorizations, and documentation logistics so your time stays squarely in the clinical lane.
MST experience is preferred but not required. If you bring strong supervisory skills, community-based clinical experience, and a genuine commitment to evidence-based, fidelity-driven practice, we will invest in your MST training and support your development through our MST expert consultation structure.
What You Will Do
MST Supervisor (50%)
Provide weekly group and individual clinical supervision to MST therapists using the MST supervisory model, with a focus on case conceptualization, analytic process fidelity, and clinician development
Review and guide treatment planning to ensure alignment with MST principles, ecological fit, and individualized family goals
Monitor fidelity metrics and outcome data; use structured feedback to support ongoing therapist skill development and model adherence
Serve as the clinical escalation point for complex, multi-system cases requiring supervisory guidance
Participate in regularly scheduled consultation calls with the MST Services expert consultant and collaborate actively to support program quality
Maintain supervisory documentation in compliance with DBHDS licensing standards and MST quality assurance requirements
Build and sustain referral relationships with FAPT coordinators, JDR court liaisons, community services boards, and other key system partners
Promote MST internally and externally, educating stakeholders on the model and its evidence base
IOP Clinical Director (50%)
Provide clinical oversight and group supervision for QMHP-led IOP groups, ensuring service quality and clinical consistency across the program
Review and co-sign clinical documentation, including progress notes, group summaries, and treatment plans, in alignment with DMAS billing and documentation standards
Ensure IOP services comply with LOCUS documentation requirements, group size standards, and medical necessity criteria
Conduct or oversee clinical assessments and individualized treatment planning for IOP clients
Monitor program quality, client progress trajectories, and discharge planning to support safe, appropriate transitions of care
Support the administrative coordinator on clinical questions related to prior authorization requests and intake placement decisions
Maintain and update IOP clinical protocols and ensure all staff are practicing within their licensed scope
What We Are Looking For
Active Virginia licensure required: LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or any LMHP designation accepted
Master’s degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a closely related field
Minimum two years of post-licensure clinical experience; experience in community-based, outpatient, or intensive levels of care strongly preferred
Experience providing clinical supervision preferred; candidates with strong training and leadership experience will be considered
Familiarity with DBHDS licensing standards, DMAS Medicaid documentation requirements, and behavioral health quality assurance practices
MST experience or prior training preferred; candidates without MST background will be considered and provided with structured training through our MST expert consultation framework
Strong clinical judgment and the ability to guide therapists working with youth and families across complex, multi-system presentations
This role does not carry a direct therapy caseload
