What are the responsibilities and job description for the Turret Operator position at PL Cold?
Job Summary:
The Turret Operator is responsible for operating equipment to pick, stage, and stock materials, components and finished goods in and out of the warehouse in accordance with all safety and operational policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and Business Process Procedures (BPPs).
Essential Job Functions:
- Operate Electric Crown turret trucks, within the safety and operational requirements established by the Company and equipment manufacturer.
- Put-Away inventory in VNA Aisle locations.
- Run full physical inventories and produce an accurate count on the items.
- Picks finished goods from inventory locations, stages for shipments and loads outbound trucks.
- Complete maintenance checklists for assigned equipment prior to operating and reports any safety gaps and mechanical repairs to the management team.
- Uses a handheld scanner and/or computer to process WMS transactions, review picklist transfer orders, track material movements and audit shipments for completeness and accuracy. Reports discrepancies to the management team.
- Performs physical inventory checks to support inventory investigations, cycle counts, and annual physical inventory (PI) counts, as requested.
- Performs all work in a manner that is consistent with the company’s quality system and FDA good manufacturing practices, includes maintaining a clean and orderly work area at all times.
- Follows, promotes, and enforces PL Cold’s safety and environmental policies, practices, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- HS Diploma or GED equivalent is highly preferred. In lieu of a Diploma or GED, years of experience, knowledge, skills, and fit will be considered.
- Prior experience operating powered industrial equipment in a warehouse and/or manufacturing environment is preferred.

Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Able to work overtime & weekends as required.
- Read, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instructions, including SOPs.
Working Conditions:
- This is a freezer/cold storage facility and you will be required to work in those conditions.
- Exposure to frequent movement of motorized equipment throughout the facility, including electric pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.
- Wear safety vests throughout the storage facility. Cold weather gear will be provided.
- Sit, bend, stoop, climb, and stand for long periods of time in one place.
- Lift items up to 50lbs.
