About the role


PKL Services will be providing contractor Organizational Level (O-Level) maintenance in support to VRM-50 at Naval Base Coronado (NAS North Island), Coronado, CA.


The Aircraft Survival Flight Equipment Technician I supports VRM-50 and their CMV-22B aircraft by inspecting, maintaining, and repairing survival equipment, flight protective equipment and other assigned ALSS equipment.


Additional duties include:


  • Performs both unscheduled and scheduled maintenance to include periodic, hourly, calendar, phase and conditional inspections.
  • Disassembling, repairing, testing, troubleshooting, examining, fitting, modifying, maintaining, installing, and determining serviceability of aircraft survival and flight equipment such as helmets, torso harness assemblies, preservers, life rafts, chemical and biological protective devices, survival kits.
  • Perform operational and circuit checks of emergency signaling and communication devices such as survival radios and beacons.
  • Mechanical and electrical repair or maintenance of pyrotechnics and explosive devices, and aircraft egress systems.
  • Ensures that replacement parts, material, equipment, and accessories used in the repair of aircraft components or survival equipment shall only be those authorized by the Government via Government approved publications provided by the Government.
  • Familiarity with aircraft assigned to the unit, detailed knowledge of the operation and characteristics of aircraft survival and flight equipment, and the ability to demonstrate and explain proper usage and operation of the equipment.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned by the Program Manager/Site Manager.

About you
We’d love to hear from you if you have:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Shall be a qualified PR “A” School graduate or equivalent Air Force or Army MOS course in accordance with the CNAFINST 4790.2 Series to be allowed to perform ALSS system maintenance.

  • Government Service (GS) civilian and contractor maintenance ALSS technicians must be a Graduate of the Navy PR Core & Strand “A” school or equivalent Air Force or Army MOS courses.

  • Shall possess four (4) years of experience in flight equipment modifications and repairs.

  • Working knowledge of the COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2C.

  • Knowledge of Naval Aviation Maintenance Procedures (NAMP) publications and Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs).

  • Ability to document maintenance utilizing the Naval Aviation Logistics Command Information System (NALCOMIS).

  • Correctly interpret schematic diagrams as part of ALSS work.

  • Correctly interpret applicable ALSS technical data.

  • Correctly demonstrate use and care of power tools, sewing machines, test equipment and precision measuring devices in the maintenance and repair of aircraft and equipment.

  • This is a full time/ non-exempt/ union position.
  • $38.88 hour
  • $6.60 hr. as a Health & Welfare benefit.

  • $75.00 employer contribution each month towards the Machinist Custom Choice Benefits.
  • The company sponsors group medical, dental, vision, basic life paid coverage plans for the employee/family. Employee contributions required.

  • Eleven (11) paid holidays & 2 floating holidays per year.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Primarily in a workshop environment but may traverse into high noise areas or near active jet aircraft operating ramps.
  • Ability to both sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key).
  • This position requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending, reaching, and climbing.
  • May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers.
  • Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions.
  • Normal color perception required.
  • The noise level in the primary work environment is usually moderate.
  • May be exposed at times to moderate discomforts such as heat, cold, rain, wind.
