What are the responsibilities and job description for the External Writer position at Pixelberry Studios?
Pixelberry Studios is a Top 10 mobile games developer, having created fun, compelling mobile games for over nine years. We’re a division of Nexon, one of the Top 10 largest gaming companies in the world. Our studio is 3-for-3 launching games into the AppStore's Top 25 Grossing chart. Our current flagship game, “Choices'' has smashed our wildest expectations. Our vision for success is based around innovative game design, diversity, and putting our players first!
We are looking for experienced writers to work on contract, delivering content for our hit mobile games. Payment will come on delivery of chapters (approximately 5000 words each) with bonuses upon hitting certain milestones. Pay rate is competitive.
This is an external contractor position, not full-time employment. The work will be done remotely, off-site. Hiring will be done on a rolling basis, so it may take some time before you hear back from us. If you haven't heard from us within 3 months and are still interested, please resubmit your application.
RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be working with an editor to deliver high-quality interactive narrative content for Pixelberry. You'll be provided with some general training and samples of our formatting, as well as detailed guidance on what you’ll be writing. You'll receive feedback on each chapter you complete and revise as necessary, with the expectation of one round of revisions.
REQUIREMENTS
Our ideal candidate creates stories with interesting characters and compelling narratives, is able to follow the established style and tone of our games, and can write from a variety of perspectives. Additionally, candidates should be able to accept and incorporate feedback, adapt writing to meet requirements, and consistently meet deadlines. Excellent copywriting and editing skills are a must.
MATERIALS REQUESTED
A cover letter, indicating why you're interested in the position. In this letter, please state the top three genres you would be interested in writing for us; we strongly encourage you to play a few chapters of our game Choices to get a feel for the kind of stories we tell.
A current resume, highlighting writing and educational experience.
A writing sample of no more than 5000 words (short story, script, or game writing). We prefer fiction samples that showcase friendship and romance. If you have more than one applicable sample, you can send more than one.
Candidates without all required materials will not be considered.
