What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outpatient Therapist position at Pivotal (Formerly Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services of St. Joseph County)?
SUMMARY OF JOB: This position provides outpatient therapy services to adults and/or severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents presenting with mild to moderate levels of functional impairments as a part of the continuum of services available. It provides both individual and group therapy, relies on evidence-based practices, and coordinates with other services and staff at Pivotal. This position works closely with psychiatric staff, case management, private and public sector human service providers. The outpatient therapist position allows for a more comprehensive treatment approach in our service array by providing counseling services to individuals in need while allowing them to stay in the least restrictive environment.

· Supports a trauma informed culture to individuals in their recovery process.
· Maintains education/training requirements set for/by Pivotal/SWMBH
Specific Job Functions:
· Knowledge of normal/abnormal development.
· Knowledge of adult psychiatric disorders
· Knowledge of basic counseling and psychotherapy techniques
· Understanding of ethical implications to the customers/therapist relationship
· Conduct assessments and identify member’s priorities and needs.
Physical Requirements
· Requires ability to lift up to twenty-five pounds.
· Prolonged sitting and standing as appropriate.
· Stooping, kneeling, crouching, or bending as appropriate.
· Able to work in/under high stress/pressure environments with productivity standards and expectations.
· Requires coordination and manual dexterity of hands and/or eyes/hand/foot.
· Work in office environment with noise from computers, printers, and telephones.
· Use of computer for periods more than 30 minutes at a time.
· Possible eyestrain from extended periods of viewing computer screen.
· May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and parasites.
· Limited travel is required for this position.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.81 - $41.81 per hour
