What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior AV Technician position at Pittwater?
Company Description
Pittwater is an AV integration firm specializing in the design, installation, and support of enterprise audio-visual systems. We work with some of the most demanding clients in the country, delivering complex, high-quality AV environments in corporate and commercial settings. We are an experienced team that takes the work seriously and takes pride in doing it right.
Role Description
This is a senior technical position anchored to our Brookfield headquarters, not a road-warrior role. You will own our integration center operations – keeping gear tested, staged, and ready – while serving as the go-to field lead when a project demands an expert on-site. Roughly 70% of your time will be based in CT; the remaining 30% puts you on job sites, typically for high-priority installations where your leadership matters. This role is also a platform. As Pittwater grows, the right person will have a clear path into broader technical leadership, operations, or project management — depending on where your strengths and interests take you.
What You'll Do
Field & Installation Leadership:
- Lead on-site AV installations — rack fabrication, complex wiring, cable terminations, equipment mounting — on projects that require a senior hand.
- Serve as the primary client-facing technical resource on-site, handle inquiries professionally and route change requests through the Project Manager.
- Coordinate with other trades (electrical, GC) to keep projects on schedule and within scope.
- Partner with Project Managers daily to report status, manage site documentation, and flag risks early.
Integration Center Operations:
- Own pre-deployment staging: rack builds, system configuration, QA testing, and software validation before equipment ships to site.
- Manage inbound and outbound logistics using our WMS; maintain inventory accuracy and coordinate with our 3PL partners.
- Ensure the Brookfield hub is organized, stocked, and running efficiently — including general facility and office operations.
What We're Looking For
Required (Must-Haves):
- 5 years of hands-on experience in AV integration
- Advanced proficiency in low-voltage cabling: HDMI, CAT6, Fiber; solid signal flow and troubleshooting fundamentals
- Mastery of hand and power tools; proficiency with soldering and connector crimping
- Proven crew leadership — you’ve run a job site and made good decisions under pressure
- Solid working knowledge of IP-based systems and how AV integrates with network infrastructure
- Comfort with Google Workspace, Excel, and WMS/ERP systems
- Ability to lift/move products up to 50 lbs
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred (Nice-To-Haves):
- AVIXA CTS (General) — current and valid
- Manufacturer certifications: Q-SYS, Extron, Shure, or similar
- Prior experience in a Project Site Lead or Crew Lead role
- Ability to obtain security clearances for sensitive client environments
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification
What We Offer
- This is a non-exempt hourly position with a pay range of $38/hr–$44/hr (~$79k–$91k annualized) based on experience.
- Full medical/dental/vision package and 401(k) with matching.
- Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays.
- Direct exposure to enterprise-grade projects, including work with marquee clients.
Salary : $38 - $44
