What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive in Residence: Defense Technology Accelerator position at Pittsburgh Technology Council?
The Pittsburgh Technology Council (the PTC) is seeking an experienced defense innovation professional to build and lead a new Defense Technology Accelerator focused on accelerating the transition of higher-TRL technologies into defense applications.
The Accelerator will focus on two initial mission areas:
Air/Ground Autonomous Coordination — technologies that enable coordinated operations among autonomous air and ground systems, including artificial intelligence, robotics, autonomy, sensing, communications, command and control, and human-machine teaming.
Cyber — technologies that strengthen cyber resilience, cybersecurity, cyber operations and the security of increasingly connected defense systems.
The Accelerator will identify companies and technologies with meaningful technical capability and create a structured pathway from mission alignment and technical validation to testing, operational experimentation, demonstration, technology transition and ultimately acquisition.
This is a builder and operator role. The successful candidate will design the Accelerator's operating model, identify and evaluate technologies, understand emerging defense requirements, establish relationships throughout the defense innovation and acquisition ecosystem, and create opportunities for participants to test and validate their capabilities with military users and in relevant environments.
