Duties
- Install, repair, and replace various commercial roofing systems using hand tools, power tools, and roofing materials.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and roofing plans to ensure precise execution of projects.
- Perform heavy lifting and physical tasks required for roofing installation, including working at heights and on scaffolding.
- Utilize construction estimating skills to assess project scope, materials needed, and labor requirements.
- Conduct surface preparation such as caulking, trimming, stucco application, and masonry work to ensure proper roof sealing and finishing.
- Operate fabrication equipment for custom metal flashing or trim carpentry components needed for roofing systems.
- Maintain safety protocols on-site by using appropriate fall protection gear and adhering to OSHA standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, carpenters, masons, plumbers, and other trades to coordinate installation efforts.
- Read schematics and blueprints accurately to ensure all roofing components are installed according to specifications.
- Assist in restoration projects involving roofing repairs or upgrades on existing structures.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial roofing installation or repair with a strong understanding of roofing materials and techniques.
- Skilled in construction estimating, blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and use of hand tools and power tools.
- Familiarity with construction site safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work at heights comfortably.
- Experience with related trades such as framing carpentry, metal stud framing, masonry, plumbing, welding, tile laying or restoration is a plus.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes for roofing components like flashing or trim carpentry is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to read technical drawings accurately.
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple trades on busy job sites.
