POSITION TITLE
Early Intervention Teacher
Job Description Summary
The Early Intervention Teacher is directly supervised by the Early Intervention Program Officer and is responsible for providing services to eligible young children in Preschool programs, Early Intervention classrooms and community/home settings throughout the city.
WORK MONTHS
10 Months
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with Early Childhood partners to maintain consistency of Early Intervention services.
- Provide Early Intervention services to eligible children per the IEP.
- Collect, manage, input and report on progress monitoring data for parents and OCDEL audits.
- Conduct developmental/behavior screens and standardized assessments to determine eligibility.
- Possess an extensive understanding of state and federal Special Ed/Early Intervention regulations.
- Utilize necessary technology (ex. PELICAN) to write evaluation reports, IEPs and complete all other required paperwork.
- Manage and support children with challenging behaviors.
- Maintain daily Microsoft work calendar related to caseload management.
- Provide support to community professionals, teachers, families and young children utilizing Early Intervention services.
- Assist with transition to kindergarten activities.
- Attend to details with independent follow-through on extensive paperwork demands.
- Attend staff meeting and in-service trainings.
- Other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the department's or school's goals and objectives and the District's mission and Superintendent's Priority Goals
Bachelor's Degree in Education
Certification/Licensure Required
- Pennsylvania Department of Education Instructional Certification in Special Education Pk-12 or Special Education Pk-8 (Preferred)
- Pennsylvania Department of Education Instructional Certification in Grades Pk-4
Years Of Experience
Varies based on needs of department
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Be able to travel throughout the city on a daily basis
- Computer literacy
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills for handling a high volume of job related tasks in a very busy environment
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Understanding of federal and state mandates that govern Early Intervention.
- Enthusiastic about the fundamental goal of advancing student achievement in an urban public school district.
