Our Pittsburgh Intermodal Terminal (PIT) is one of the few full-service intermodal facilities featuring barge, rail, and truck off-load, re-load, and storage capabilities. Consisting of 40-acres in Ambridge, Pennsylvania on the Ohio River, 16 miles from downtown Pittsburgh, PA. Our facility also provides value- added services including welding and fabricating.
Job Description
We are seeking individuals to function as part of a team involved in the unloading, storing, and reloading of large steel products (steel beams, coils, slabs, plate, etc.) and unitized produsts to and from barges, railroad cars trucks and storage. Specific equipment you will ultimately be required to operate 10-20 ton forklifts within both indoor (warehouse) and outdoor (yard) environments.
Previous experience operating heavy duty forklifts is required. Previous experience with rigging, loading, and unloading of steel beams/products is desired, we are willing to train motivated applicants who wish to learn and be ultimately advanced into more specialized positions which may include specialized equipment and crane operations and supervision.
You will need reliable transportation, to be able to work in rigorous outdoor elements year-round, the ability to lift up to 80 pounds and to work independently or as leader of a team and a “can-do” attitude.
Job Requirements
- Perform all work considering Company standards, procedures, requirements, and safety rules
- Load and offload material to and from barges, railcars, trucks, etc.
- Operate and maintain equipment daily
- Report equipment safety issues immediately upon inspection
- Work as a team to develop a safe and clean work environment
- Always ensure customer satisfaction and operational excellence
- Maintain and use the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to read and comprehend work orders, bill of ladings, etc. to ensure accurate shipment and delivery information
- Willingness to help with whatever tasks are required
Job Qualifications
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must have recent work history
- Previous experience with 10 ton fork lifts
- Previous experience with rigging, loading, unloading of steel beams/products is preferred
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
- Must be able to work in rigorous outdoor elements year round
- Must be able to work independently and with other team members
- Must be able to perform tasks in a timely and safe manner
