RESPONSIBILITIES
The Visitor Experience Assistant assists guests who come to the Garden as part of general admission, group tours, and community events to ensure an overall positive guest experience. This position reports directly to the Visitor Experience Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Greeting visitors and guests in a friendly and attentive way and addressing their needs promptly, including the processing of admissions, gift shop sales, memberships, classes, and events registrations.
- Answer and route calls and emails appropriately.
- Ensure that the Welcome Center is clean and in working order at the beginning and end of each shift, per the provided checklist.
- Remain current on upcoming activities, fundraisers, and Garden development.
- Maintain knowledge of membership levels, benefits, and promotions.
- Adhere to PBG Customer Service guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Responsible for cash drawer security, cash balance, and adhering to all other aspects of PBG cash handling policy.
- Ensure constant coverage of the station to which you are assigned.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders, guests, and patrons.
- Assist with inventory, restocking printed material, merchandise that was sold, and supplies.
- Perform other duties assigned to support Garden operations and community events.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in customer service is required.
- Must have a high attention to detail and be able to troubleshoot in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to communicate clearly and tactfully.
- Be reliable and able to work independently.
- Have basic computer knowledge and the ability to learn the Altru/POS system.
- CPR certification and first aid training, along with demonstrated skills in collaboration and creative problem-solving a plus.
- Clearances and required background checks (Child Abuse Clearance; PA State Police Background Check; Fingerprint Background Check, PA valid driver's license)
- RAMP Certified or can become certified.
WORK CONDITIONS
- Typically, this is 15-25 hours per workweek, and hours fluctuate seasonally.
- Flexible hours will be required for Garden-related functions and holidays, weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
- The position includes pro-rated pay for holidays, vacation, and sick time.
- Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and work in all weather conditions.
Salary : $16 - $17
