Pet Department Manager
Eighty Four Agway – Eighty Four, PA
Full-time | $18–$22 per hour
Eighty Four Agway is looking for a dependable, customer-focused Pet Department Manager to oversee our pet food and small-animal supply department.
This is a hands-on retail position for someone who enjoys helping customers, learning about pet nutrition and products, keeping merchandise organized, and taking ownership of a department. The Pet Department Manager will be responsible for the department’s sales, inventory, merchandising, product selection, and overall customer experience.
What You’ll Do
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable service to customers shopping for pet food, treats, bedding, supplements, toys, and small-animal supplies
- Help customers compare products and select appropriate options based on their pets’ needs
- Develop strong knowledge of the brands and products carried by Eighty Four Agway
- Order merchandise and maintain appropriate inventory levels
- Monitor sales, product movement, pricing, gross margin, and department performance
- Keep shelves stocked, faced, priced, clean, and attractively merchandised
- Create seasonal displays and promote new or featured products
- Monitor inventory for damaged, expired, discontinued, or slow-moving merchandise
- Work with vendors and store management on product selection, promotions, and special orders
- Receive, organize, and rotate incoming merchandise
- Train other employees on pet products, department procedures, and customer service
- Assist with register operations and in other store departments when needed
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming store
- Follow all company policies and safety procedures
What We’re Looking For
- Previous retail, pet-industry, merchandising, inventory, or department-management experience is preferred
- Interest in pet nutrition and animal-care products
- Strong customer-service and communication skills
- Ability to take initiative and manage daily responsibilities with limited supervision
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills
- Basic math and computer skills
- Dependability, attention to detail, and a positive attitude
- Ability to work cooperatively with customers, coworkers, vendors, and store management
- Willingness to continue learning about products, brands, and pet-care trends
Schedule
- Full-time position
- Weekday availability is required
- Saturday availability is required, but scheduling can be flexible
- Some seasonal, holiday, or additional hours may be needed based on business demands
Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on retail position. Employees must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Bend, reach, climb, and perform repetitive movements
- Regularly lift and carry bags of pet food and other merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds
- Safely use ladders, carts, pallet jacks, and other store equipment after training
- Work in indoor retail and warehouse areas with varying temperatures

Pay and Benefits
- $18–$22 per hour, depending on relevant experience and qualifications
- Biweekly pay by direct deposit
