Ayden-Grifton High School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Exceptional Children's (EC) Teacher Assistantto support students in a self-contained classroom setting. This position also includes eligibility to serve as a school bus driver as needed.

Performance will be evaluated annually by the school principal and the bus supervisor.
Minimum Education/Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or a minimum of 48 semester hours of higher education
- Demonstrated computer skills
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with school bus certification
EC Teacher Assistant Responsibilities
The EC Teacher Assistant will:
- Assist the teacher in implementing each student's Individual Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives.
- Help plan and prepare the learning environment, including setting up centers and organizing instructional materials and supplies.
- Assist students, as assigned by the Principal, with personal care needs (feeding, toileting, etc.) and trained medical procedures.
- Conduct learning activities with small groups of students.
- Support students in developing positive relationships with peers and adults.
- Supervise students at all times to ensure safety.
- Alert the teacher to special needs or concerns regarding individual students.
- Collect and display appropriate materials for instructional and educational displays.
- Develop materials and assist with group lessons aligned to instructional objectives determined by the teacher.
- Correct student work under the supervision of the teacher.
- Assist with discipline procedures and reinforce behavioral expectations under teacher guidance.
- Support the teacher in implementing strategies to reinforce academic and behavioral skills.
- Serve as a key resource for substitute teachers in the teacher's absence.
- Assist with general housekeeping duties to maintain a neat, safe, and organized classroom.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student information.
- Follow appropriate communication channels (teacher, principal, EC program staff) when discussing concerns.
- Adhere to all school and district policies and procedures.
- Maintain bus driver licensure and accept bus driving assignments as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher and building administrators.
