Position Overview

The Equipment Manager is responsible for managing toolroom operations, equipment control, site fleet control of all third-party rentals, and material support activities. This position ensures that tools, equipment, rental fleet assets, and materials are properly managed, maintained, tracked, and available to support project operations safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee issuance, return, control, and tracking of all tools and equipment
  • Ensure tools are inspected, maintained, and in safe working condition
  • Remove damaged or unsafe equipment from service
  • Coordinate equipment needs with project leadership and field supervision
  • Control, track, and coordinate all site fleet and third-party rental equipment from request through return
  • Monitor third-party rental usage, availability, condition, documentation, and off-rent status to reduce unnecessary cost and downtime
  • Manage toolroom personnel, equipment specialists, and material support teams
  • Set daily priorities, work plans, and operational direction
  • Monitor employee performance, attendance, and productivity
  • Enforce company policies and procedures
  • Manage material staging, storage, and distribution planning
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to job sites
  • Coordinate with warehouse, vendors, and procurement teams
  • Track material usage and reduce waste
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and OSHA/site requirements
  • Support safety meetings, inspections, and compliance reviews
  • Ensure proper use of PPE at all times
  • Identify hazards and implement corrective actions; Report incidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediately
  • Maintain organized toolroom and yard operations
  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder as needed; Improve workflows and operational efficiency
  • Maintain site fleet rental logs, inspection records, rental agreements, and utilization reports for all third-party rental assets
  • Coordinate daily with field supervisors and project management; Provide updates on equipment availability and needs; Support project planning and scheduling activities
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5 years’ experience in materials, toolroom, or equipment management
  • 2 years supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of construction tools and equipment
  • Inventory control and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred
  • OSHA safety training (10/30-hour) preferred

  • The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Lift, carry, push, and pull materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Perform physical movements such as bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing
  • Safely navigate active construction sites, including uneven, confined, or cluttered work areas
  • Work at elevated heights and comply with fall protection and safety requirements
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
  • Work in environments with exposure to noise, dust, temperature extremes, and other construction-related conditions
  • Interpret technical drawings and visualize three-dimensional concepts when needed
  • Maintain sufficient vision, hearing, coordination, and awareness to safely perform job duties
  • Ability to work extended shifts, including up to 12 hours, in outdoor construction environments and varying weather conditions
  • Maintain physical stamina and strength to perform demanding job duties throughout the workday
