Located along Scarborough's coast, Piper Shores is a Premier Retirement Community which includes Independent Living, Assisting Living, and Nursing Home Programs. Our Nursing Home unit is comprised of 40 beds with clinical and registered nursing care, and our Assisted Living unit is comprised of 36 individual apartments and 14 memory care apartments. GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Assisted Living Charge RN is responsible for delivering and supervising the nursing care services of Assisted Living unit. The Assisted Living Nurse will monitor care delivery to assure that established standards of care are followed and to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
Schedule:
20 hours/week
8 hours on Friday, 12-8pm
Other days can be either four 3-hour evenings or three 4-hour evenings, until 8pm.
Essential Job Duties:
- Assures the provision of quality services needed and/or desired by residents, consistent with the policies and procedures established in the Residency Agreement and state regulations. Makes frequent tours of resident apartments to ensure quality of care on all shifts and general safety.
- Supervises direct care of residents during his/her shift; provides ongoing support, development, and supervision of staff.
- Administers direct care as necessary.
- Ensures that applicable stakeholders are aware of changes in resident's condition.
- Completes required assessments upon admission and as needed.
- Develops service plans and updates as needed.
- Maintains the self-respect, personal dignity, and physical safety of each resident; encourages the highest level of independence that a resident is capable of.
- Maintains accurate documentation of all care rendered.
- Communicates with other disciplines as needed to assure continuity of care and services.
- Assists with the orientation and ongoing education of direct care staff.
- Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
- Performs specific work duties and responsibilities:
o Completes monthly nursing assessments on all Assisted Living residents.
o Reviews electronic medical records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
o Completes chart audits on a quarterly basis.
o Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Clinical Supervisor.
- May assist with performance evaluations of staff as assigned.
- Develops positive and professional relationships with residents and their families.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maine.
- Must be CPR certified or able to recertify prior to starting position
- Prior experience with a senior population preferred; experience with dementia care preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing service policies and procedures and standards or practice.
- Ability to work with a team and demonstrates a positive attitude and is a good role model for all staff.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to utilize technology. Familiarity with MatrixCare or similar electronic medical records system.
- Ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with, work with and maintain professionalism with residents, families, visitors, peers, supervisors, and direct reports.
