Data Analyst / Business Analyst

Piper Companies is seeking a Data Analyst / Business Analyst to support data transformation and analytics initiatives within a growing data team. This is a one day ONSITE role based in Columbia Maryland. This role will focus on working with raw data inputs, cleaning and joining datasets, and preparing data for downstream engineering and reporting teams, while partnering closely with both technical and business stakeholders. This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable working with SQL and Python, enjoys solving data challenges, and thrives in environments where not everything is clearly defined.

Key Responsibilities

• Write and execute SQL queries to extract, join, and analyze data from multiple sources
• Clean, transform, and validate data to ensure accuracy and usability
• Support data integration efforts by working with upstream and downstream teams
• Collaborate with engineering, integration, and business teams to understand data needs
• Translate data into meaningful insights for reporting and decision-making
• Assist in troubleshooting data issues and inconsistencies across systems
• Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives related to data workflows
• Support business analysis efforts including requirements clarification and solution validation
  
  

Required Qualifications (Non‑Negotiable)

• Strong experience with SQL, including joins, aggregations, and querying large datasets
• Experience using Python for data analysis, transformation, or automation
• Hands-on experience working with multiple data sources and data integration
• Ability to analyze and work through ambiguous datasets and requirements
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn independently
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools
• Background in Business Analysis or stakeholder-facing roles
• Experience with ETL/ELT processes or data pipelines
• Healthcare or clinical data experience
  
  

Compensation:

• 1 Day Onsite
• Contract-to-hire
• $40-$55/hr
• This is a full-time, hybrid position; 1 day per week is required onsite (Thursdays)
