Position Summary
Anchorage Chemical Terminal is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Operator to support daily terminal operations involving the movement, loading, and unloading of trucks, railcars, barges, and ships containing chemical products. This role is critical to maintaining safe, efficient product transfers and ensuring compliance with all company, regulatory, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate will have industrial, terminal, rail, or chemical handling experience and a strong commitment to operational safety.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Perform railcar switching using terminal locomotives or trackmobile equipment.
· Safely connect, disconnect, and secure railcars for loading and unloading operations.
· Load and unload liquid chemical products from railcars to storage tanks, trucks, or marine vessels.
· Align valves, pumps, and transfer lines for product movement.
· Inspect railcars, hoses, fittings, valves, and loading equipment before and during transfer operations.
· Monitor product transfer rates, tank levels, pressures, and temperatures.
· Collect product samples for quality control and laboratory testing.
· Complete shipping, receiving, and inventory documentation accurately.
· Conduct routine equipment inspections and minor maintenance.
· Respond to spills, leaks, and operational upsets in accordance with emergency procedures.
· Maintain terminal housekeeping and ensure work areas remain clean and hazard-free.
· Participate in safety meetings, drills, and required training.
Required Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work at heights .
· Strong mechanical aptitude.
· Ability to read gauges, follow written procedures, and complete operational paperwork.
· Basic understanding of pumps, valves, and piping systems.
· Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in rail switching or trackmobile operations.
· Experience loading/unloading hazardous chemicals.
· Knowledge of DOT rail regulations and hazardous materials handling.
· Experience in terminal, marine, or bulk liquid transfer operations.
· Emergency response or industrial firefighting experience.

Safety Requirements
· Must be able to wear required PPE, including respirators when necessary.
· Must comply with all OSHA, DOT, EPA, and terminal safety procedures.
· Must pass pre-employment drug screening, background check, and fit-for-duty evaluation.
· Must be capable of emergency response duties.
Physical Requirements
· Frequent walking, climbing, bending, and standing.
· Ability to work around moving rail equipment and hazardous materials.
· Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, and humid environments.
· Ability to wear flame-resistant clothing and chemical protective equipment.
