Utility Construction Project Coordinator

Kingsport / Johnson City, Tennessee

Since 1953, Pipeline has been a family-owned utility contractor serving Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. We specialize in natural gas distribution, water distribution, horizontal directional drilling, hydrovac excavation and engineering services.

As our company continues to grow, we're seeking a motivated Utility Construction Project Coordinator to help plan, coordinate, and support field operations.

Location

This position is based in the Kingsport/Johnson City area and supports utility construction operations throughout Northeast Tennessee, including Morristown, Greeneville, Kingsport, Johnson City, and Bristol.

The Utility Construction Project Coordinator will partner with Area Supervisors to coordinate natural gas construction crews, horizontal directional drilling crews, and hydrovac operations while helping ensure projects are planned, staffed, and executed efficiently.

Job Summary

The Utility Construction Project Coordinator is responsible for planning, scheduling, production tracking, review of as-built GPS modeling, and administrative coordination for multiple utility construction projects. Working closely with field supervisors, construction crews, and office staff, this role helps keep projects organized, efficient, and on schedule while enabling supervisors to focus on safety, quality, crew development, and successful project execution.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Partner with Area Supervisors to plan, coordinate, and support day-to-day field operations across multiple utility construction crews.
  • Identify scheduling conflicts, resource constraints, and operational challenges while helping develop solutions that improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Coordinate weekly work plans and schedules for multiple utility construction crews.
  • Review As-Built GPS Models for accuracy.
  • Track daily production quantities and project performance.
  • Generate comprehensive reports for weekly executive-level meetings.
  • Facilitate communication with Pipeline customers regarding scope changes and potential schedule delays.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Project Management, Construction Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in construction management, project engineering, project controls, field engineering, or utility construction.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting multiple construction projects.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with underground utility construction.
  • Experience using HCSS HeavyBid, HeavyJob, or similar construction management software.
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling, production tracking, and resource planning.
  • Familiarity with project cost tracking and reporting.

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
