Job Summary
We are seeking a versatile MEP Mechanical Engineer, P.E. with strong estimating experience to join our preconstruction team. This role bridges the gap between engineering design, constructability, and accurate cost forecasting. You will coordinate across MEP, FP, and Site departments to turn drawings into competitive, profitable bids, and assist in the initial stages of project procurement.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimating & Takeoffs: Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for HVAC piping, plumbing and mechanical systems.
- Bid Management: Lead estimating efforts from kickoff to proposal delivery, including soliciting and leveling subcontractor/vendor quotes.
- Technical Design/Review: Analyze plans, specifications, and addenda to identify scope gaps, constructability issues, and value engineering opportunities.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with MEP, FP, and Site departments to integrate multidiscipline proposals.
- Cost Analysis: Maintain a historical cost database for labor, materials, and equipment to inform future bidding.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.
- Licensed Qualified Engineer
- 5 years of experience in MEP estimating or mechanical contracting.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Trimble AutoBid, Sage).
- Deep knowledge of HVAC, Piping, and Plumbing systems and codes.
