PIP Labs is the team behind Story, a purpose-built Layer 1 blockchain designed specifically for intellectual property. With Story, creators can register IP on-chain and set usage terms in seconds, dramatically lowering the barrier of today’s complex and antiquated IP legal systems.
By making IP programmable, Story transforms intellectual property into a transparent, decentralized, global repository where AI agents, developers, and humans alike can transact, license, and monetize IP with a simple API call.
In February 2025, we launched the Story mainnet, and our native $IP token is now listed on major global exchanges. As we build out the next era of programmable IP infrastructure, we’re looking for a Principal Platform Engineer / Architect to help shape the core services that power the Story protocol.
The Role
We’re seeking an experienced Principal Platform Engineer to lead the design and development of Story’s core backend and protocol services. This is a senior, hands-on technical role focused on building the architecture, reliability, and scalability of our platform.
You’ll work closely with our engineering leadership to define backend APIs, guide feature design, and ensure the robustness of our system architecture. You’ll remain deeply technical and hands-on, designing, reviewing, and implementing code while setting the direction for how we scale our platform services.
What You’ll Do- Architect and implement core backend services and APIs that power the Story protocol
- Lead technical design discussions and make key architectural and implementation decisions
- Write and review high-quality, production-grade Go (Golang) code
- Collaborate with protocol engineers and product teams to define service interfaces and data flows
- Build for scalability, reliability, and security across distributed systems
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to other engineers while remaining a strong individual contributor
- Contribute to the evolution of Story’s technical roadmap and engineering best practices
- 10 years of software engineering experience, including 5 years in backend or platform architecture
- Strong proficiency in Go (Golang), our primary language and core to this role
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, API design, and service-oriented architecture
- Experience designing and maintaining production systems with high uptime and reliability requirements
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced startup environment, balancing strategic architecture with hands-on execution
- Strong communication skills and experience collaborating across teams
- Web3 or blockchain experience is a plus, but not required
- Experience working with blockchain or decentralized infrastructure
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Familiarity with Rust or TypeScript-based microservices
