Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused IT Support Intern / Level 1 Service Desk Support Technician to join our IT team. This role provides frontline technical support to employees by assisting with hardware, software, printer, and basic network-related issues. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while delivering excellent customer service. This position offers hands-on experience supporting daily IT operations, troubleshooting end-user issues, managing IT inventory, and assisting with technology deployments and maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Level 1 technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices
- Respond to help desk tickets, troubleshoot basic technical issues, and escalate complex problems when necessary
- Assist employees with password resets, account access, software installations, and general IT support requests
- Set up, configure, image, and deploy computers and mobile devices for new hires and existing staff
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot network and local printers
- Maintain and organize IT equipment inventory, asset tracking, and documentation
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding activities, including device preparation and account provisioning
- Perform routine hardware upgrades, cable management, and workstation setup
- Support conference room technology and basic audiovisual equipment troubleshooting
- Document support activities, resolutions, and inventory updates accurately
- Maintain a professional and customer-service-oriented approach when assisting users
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, Windows operating systems, and Microsoft Office applications
- Familiarity with printers, peripherals, and basic troubleshooting concepts
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple requests effectively
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn new technologies and support procedures
- Currently pursuing or recently completed coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred
- Prior customer service or technical support experience is a plus
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Windows 10/11 environments
- Basic knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft 365, or ticketing systems
- Familiarity with PC imaging and hardware replacement
- Understanding of networking fundamentals is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move computer equipment up to 40 pounds
- Ability to move between office locations/workstations as needed
